Meet Rita Jack

A Legacy of Service and Strength:

Rita Jack For Mayor

As the youngest of nine children growing up in Meridian, I learned early on the values of resilience, hard work, and service to others. These lessons guided me through a 26-year career in public service, where I proudly wore many hats and gained unmatched experience across three departments and six divisions within the City of Meridian.

My career began in the Public Works Department, where I contributed to both Line Maintenance and the Street Division.  Later, I transitioned to the Meridian Police Department, serving in various capacities including the Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division, and as a Narcotics Agent with the East Mississippi Drug Task Force.  My tenure also included roles in the Training Division, Public Relations, and Crime Prevention.

This broad experience has given me a deep understanding of how our city government functions.  I’ve worked alongside countless department and division heads, fostering relationships and collaboration to serve the public effectively.  My familiarity with every aspect of city operations, combined with years of hands-on experience, ensures that I have the knowledge and vision to lead Meridian to new heights.

With my administration, you can expect a government that runs smoothly under the right leadership—one that values education and trained department heads who instill leadership skills in their teams.

My 36-year marriage to my husband, Martin, and adult children, Melissa (Scottie) and Joshua, along with our grandson SJ, inspire me every day to leave a legacy of service and progress for the next generation.
